Collection: Sub Woofers

Sub Woofers in hi-fi systems can be a contentious issue for some, but used correctly they can be very beneficial by adding scale, composure and solidity to the sound, and paradoxically this can have quite a beneficial effect on how we perceive higher frequencies too.

A subwoofer in a hi-fi system should in our opinion always be run at 'high level' from the speaker terminals to ensure the best integration with the mains speakers. One sub woofer can be sufficient but the ideal would be a pair located near the main speakers, as they will drive the room even more effectively whilst reducing driver movement (i.e. distortion) and negate any perception of high frequency leakage that may exist).

We have written a page about using subwoofers which is available here
