The AN-S4 is the fourth model up in the Audio Note range of step up transformers, and the first to benefit from being wound and wired throughout with 99.99% pure silver. In all other respects the cores are fundamentelly the same grade as found on the copper wired AN-S3 range.
Each Transformer is housed in a Mumetal screening canister to minimize noise and interference.
There are four different versions of this transformer, Low, Low to Medium, Medium and High
Like the rest of the range, their step up enclosures are made from copper, and the mu-metal encased transformers are made by Audio Note using their extensive experience of core materials and winding technology.

AN-S4/L - 3 Ohm input impedance - Primarily designed for use with the Audio Note (UK) IO range
AN-S4/LM - 4 Ohm input impedance - For cartridges with an impedance of 1 to 2 Ohms
AN-S4/M - 16 Ohm input impedance - For cartridges with an impedance of 4 to 6 Ohms
AN-S4/H - 64 Ohm input impedance - For cartridges with an impedance of 16 to 21 Ohms
*It is possible to use transformers with cartridges that have greater internal impedance, or values that are outside the preferred ranges of the input, however, it is important to realise that an input impedance in the region of three to four times the internal impedance of your cartridge will usually provide the best results.
