The 2M78 is a cartridge developed specifically for playing Shellac 78 RPM records (only). It features a Spherical tip and a pair of summed mono outputs (i.e. the Left and Right output terminals are internally wired together, meaning that it can be plugged into a stereo phono input without any changes to the wiring and get the same sound out of both channels).

The 2M 78 family of cartridges includes 4 variants available to order here.

-2M 78 This is the model everyone thinks of when they think of this cartridge, it's a normal body with threaded inserts allowing it be mounted via screws from the top of the headshell.

-2MR 78 This is an exciting addition to the range - the 2M series are quite tall cartridges, so the 2MR is a shorter height version and is proving popular with owners of turntables with height restrictions (like some Rega decks, for example). This cartridge is a little lighter than the standard model, but otherwise the same.

-2M 78 Verso Identical to standard height 2M 78 but with male cartridge threads extending out of the cartridge (rather than internal female threads), for use where conventional threaded inserts on the standard model are not usable.

-2M 78 Premounted This is a standard 2M 78 pre mounted into a 'SME' type removable headshell
