Ortofon MC A MONO MC Cartridge

The specially polished Ortofon Replicant 100 diamond stylus profile boasts a thin and light shape, with an impressively long vertical contact surface making it as close as possible to an original record cutting stylus as possible. The stylus is then mounted on to a boron cantilever.

Elsewhere within the cartridge system, the MC A Mono employs Ortofon's patented Wide Range Damping (WRD) technology and high-end components such as the extremely strong, compact neodymium magnet in the generator system, the Aucurum wire coils and the purpose chosen armature. The end result of such decisions is a cartridge that exhibits minimal interference and crystal clear reproduction.

The generator is a true mono design and as such minimises the negative effect that vertical groove 'pinching' that can happen when playback of mono LPs is done by a stereo cartridge, it also helps further reduce surface noise.

With an output impedance of 7Ω and a low-to-medium output voltage of 0.2mV, the MC A Mono is easy to partner with most phono pre-amps and step-up transformers – including Ortofon’s own ST-80 SE model.
