The Quintet Blue is the second model up in the Ortofon MC range of cartridges. Over the entry level Red model this adds a couple of improvements, firstly there's a Nude (one piece) Elliptical stylus added to the mix. As ever the improved mechanical rigidity this brings improves the transfer of the sound from the groove into the cantilever, resulting in a cleaner sound with improved sound at both high and low extremities and a feeling of more composure overall. 
Secondly, the copper generator coils are replaced by much more expensive 4 nines purity silver coils, which are likely to be responsible for the greater delicacy and subtlety when the recordings required it, along with the improved openess to the top end (the Nude stylus also undoubtedly helps with this too).
Thanks to the large square body is a doddle to align (although users without easy VTA adjustment may want to note it is quite a tall cartridge, and their width at the rear can cause problems in some cramped headshells - if in doubt please just ask). It might lack the refinement and resolution of the more expensive models this is still a great way to dip your toe into the waters of affordable MC cartridges, sounding warm without losing the immediacy MC cartridges are often praised for.

As MC cartridges do not have removable stylus assemblies Ortofon have an 'exchange' scheme where your old worn/damaged Ortofon MC cartridge is used as a credit against any other Ortofon MC cartridge.
