The Rainier is the fourth model up in the slightly confusingly named Oyster series of cartridges from Sumiko, and the first to benefit from the 'next generation' housing design, which not only improves rigidity and lowers resonance but also adds threaded inserts making it even easier to fit.

An Elliptical bonded diamond is used on an Aluminium cantilever.  Unusually at this price point it also features an Alnico magnet, which are prized for their natural and grain free character.

This cartridge can also be upgraded by fitting the Olympia, Moonstone and Wellfleet stylus assemblies (as well as play 78s with the RS78 stylus).
